Vesna is a Solicitor in our Insurance and Health team and is based in the Melbourne office.
Specialising in professional indemnity claims, Vesna has managed claims in all Australian jurisdictions and some in New Zealand. She has worked with both local and London based Insurers and Underwriters. She has worked with variety of insureds, and has provided advice on indemnity, coverage and defence, including:
- Building and construction professionals, including surveyors, pre-purchase inspectors, engineers, geotechnical engineers, draftsmen, architects and more. Her spectrum of experience ranges from lower scale domestic claims, to more complex claims involving construction of public roads, bridges and buildings in various jurisdictions;
- Marine Risk, predominantly boat and vessel pre-purchase inspectors including assessment of risk, liability advice and negotiation with third parties/ claimants;
- Legal expenses and tax audit claims for a variety of insured professionals and SMEs including accountants, doctors, physiotherapists, and Transport Companies. Legal expenses policies vary greatly between professions and cover a broad range of events; and
- Allied health professionals.
Vesna also has experience in reviewing coverage and interpreting various professional indemnity policies.
Additionally Vesna’s experience extends to cyber liability claims including cyber risk and defamation for companies and high net worth individuals. She has also advised various banks and large corporations in class actions claims.
‘I became interested in insurance law, particularly professional indemnity, because it enabled me an opportunity to work with professionals and businesses to assist with managing their disputes and achieve fair and commercial outcomes. I’m particularly passionate about SME’s, having experienced firsthand the adversity faced by business owners every day.’
Joining the BN financial lines team in 2020, Vesna brings with her a broad range of experience in both private practice and in-house as a professional indemnity and risks claims manager. Her experience has given her a unique insight into the claims process from both sides and Vesna utilises her knowledge to quickly understand the crux of the issues, and provide commercial and innovative advice to her clients.

Prior to joining BN and insurance law, Vesna worked predominantly in building and construction law.
Vesna’s advocacy experience extends to appearing on behalf of clients in state courts and tribunals, including Mediation and compulsory conference at VCAT, NCAT and QCAT and Judicial mediation in the County Court.
Vesna holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Communications). She is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, APIG, Young Insurance Professionals and Women in Insurance.
