Nathan Buck is a special counsel in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Sydney office.
Nathan's practice focusses on professional indemnity insurance, including claims against directors and officers, accountants, migration agents, real estate agents and IT professionals, as well as investigations and inquiries, such as ICAC inquiries and coronial inquests. While these claims give rise to a variety of legal issues, Nathan has particular interest and experience in defamation, administrative and copyright law. Nathan also regularly advises on complex coverage questions and disputes in all areas of insurance.
Within D&O, Nathan's experience includes two class actions against directors of agribusinesses and a minority shareholder dispute. Nathan has also practised as a migration lawyer, refugee policy adviser for the Australian Government and senior adviser to a Member of Parliament on migration issues. 'I regularly defend migration agents. I believe my unique combination of skills and experience in this area makes me one of Australia's leading professional indemnity specialists for claims against migration agents.'
‘I enjoy the diversity of the cases we deal with at Barry.Nilsson. I think clients appreciate that I take a very commercial and pragmatic approach to the matters on which I work. I enjoy strategising with claims managers to find the best possible solutions, especially in difficult cases.’
Nathan has a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours), a Bachelor of International Studies and a Masters of Globalisation.
