Mitchell is a senior associate in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Brisbane office.
Mitchell has practiced exclusively in insurance law since his admission in 2012. He is experienced in both plaintiff and defendant insurance claims, having worked at a leading national plaintiff firm, and in the general insurance team of a large national firm, before joining Barry.Nilsson. in 2017.
Mitchell’s clients include insurers, underwriters, brokers, and a broad spectrum of professionals.
His areas of expertise are:
- public liability
- professional indemnity
- employment practices liability
Mitchell also has experience in workers' compensation, dust diseases and asbestos litigation, compulsory third party (CTP) and catastrophic claims, including head injuries, nervous shock claims, dependency claims, and claims by minors. He has also been involved in mass product liability class actions relating to defective healthcare products.
Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and a Master of Laws from the University of Queensland. He is a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA), Young Insurance Professionals (YIPs) and the Queensland Law Society.
