Michael Massarotto

Michael is a Senior Associate in our Insurance and Health team based in our Perth office.

Michael specialises in Financial lines claims, including:

• Professional Indemnity
• Directors’ & Officers
• Management Liability
• Financial Institutions
• Cyber

With a focus on professional indemnity claims, Michael has worked on claims involving accountants, engineers, builders, financial service providers, real estate agents and in particular professionals in the construction industry.

Michael has experience in acting for a wide variety of clients on building and construction claims. He has acted for numerous engineers (including structural, civil, and hydraulic and electrical engineers), certifiers, builders, principals and a range of subcontractors in claims brought in Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.

Michael has been involved in matters including acting for a technical services contracting company regarding a multi-million dollar claim on the failure of generators in mine sites in WA, acting in multi-million dollar disputes regarding home building warranty disputes issued against principals, architects and certifiers for defects in large residential developments and acting for building manufactures on product quality claims.

Prior to joining Barry Nilsson, Michael was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales (2015), with a background in Building and Construction. Michael has been practising in the insurance sector, focusing on professional indemnity and construction in Perth since 2017.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Laws & Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Macquarie University. He is also a member of Law Society WA and the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA).
