Larisa has a large practice of medical negligence and malpractice files. She represents and advises individual doctors and hospitals, on instruction from medical defence organisations.

Larisa has instructed counsel in several hearings in the District Court, Supreme Court and NCAT including: Williams v Stening & Or; Marsh v Naim, Health Care Complaints Commission v He. Larisa’s hearing experience has allowed her to take on a risk-informed approach in her practice.

Prior to joining Barry Nilsson, Larisa worked at two large national firms representing large insurers in general insurance and health claims.

“I was drawn to Barry Nilsson’s refreshing approach in the provision of legal services. BN places the client’s interest first and centre while still caring deeply about its employees’ wellbeing and personal development.”
“I am passionate about assisting doctors through one of the most stressful and challenging times of their lives. Most doctors are doing their best for their patients and it can be deeply distressing to receive a complaint or be a party to proceedings that spans over a number of years. The processes that us lawyers are familiar and comfortable with can be completely foreign and intimidating to most doctors. I pride myself on my ability to provide doctors with ongoing support and advice, while also providing insurer clients with pragmatic and commercial solutions.”

Larisa holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting).
