Jacob is a special counsel in our Insurance & Health team and is based in the Melbourne office.

Since Jacob’s admission in 2008, he has practised predominantly in insurance litigation and has experience in both in-house and private practice.

Jacob’s areas of speciality include:

  • Personal injury litigation
  • Public liability
  • Product liability

He has particular expertise advising on and responding to Medical Panel referrals under the Wrongs Act 1958 and the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and he is well versed in the American Medical Association Guides. In addition, Jacob has significant experience in motor vehicle accident, workers’ compensation and statutory recovery claims.

"I find personal injury litigation interesting because it allows for a crossover between medical and legal concepts. While there are certainly similarities in cases, they are ultimately determined on their individual facts, which are sometimes very unique."

Jacob’s clients include, general insurers, underwriters and government bodies. He has acted for local councils, host employers, facility managers, schools, hospitals, builders and property developers.

"I like the fact that my role provides me with exposure to a variety of different clients and factual scenarios to consider and advise on."

Jacob has extensive experience managing multi party litigation in all Victorian courts and has advised on and responded to appeals and judicial reviews. He has also managed strategically significant statutory interpretation litigation in the Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal.

Jacob holds a Bachelor or Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Public Relations).
