Dean is an associate in the Insurance & Health team and is based in the Sydney office.
At Barry.Nilsson. Dean acts for domestic and international insurers specialising in:
- Public and Products Liability
- Property Damage
- Professional Indemnity
- Policy Coverage Advice
In addition, Dean has advised clients on compulsory third party (CTP), medical negligence and workers' compensation claims, with a focus on catastrophic cases involving quadriplegia, paraplegia and traumatic brain injuries.
Dean has managed a high volume of litigated and unlitigated claims acting on behalf of a number of insurers and private corporations in the areas of public liability, product liability and professional indemnity. Dean has represented clients across multiple jurisdictions including NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia.

Dean has a strong commitment to innovation and developing new ways to deliver value to clients. He released in 2017 a series of publications regarding change and innovation in the legal industry which received exposure from law firms across Europe, Asia and North America.
Dean holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics. He is a member of Young Insurance Professionals (YIPs) as well as the Law Society of NSW.
