Caitlin is a solicitor in our Family Law team and is based in our Melbourne office. Before relocating to Melbourne in 2019, Caitlin was based in our Brisbane office.

Completing four rotations over two years, Caitlin gained experience in our Insurance & Health, Family and Real Estate & Commercial teams before joining the Family Law team in 2016. Caitlin has practised exclusively in Family Law since 2016.

"Since commencing at Barry.Nilsson. I have been mentored by some of the most well-regarded practitioners in Australia. This has allowed me to not only work on interesting and challenging matters, but has also given me the opportunity to learn from the best, which is invaluable for a junior solicitor."

Caitlin advises her clients on:

  • Property settlement and spousal maintenance
  • Parenting matters
  • Divorce
  • De facto relationship issues
  • Domestic violence issues
  • Child support.

"Most of the clients I work with have been through a very difficult and emotional time. Using empathy and compassion to develop a relationship of trust and confidence with my clients, in addition to analysing and applying the law to the facts at hand, is what I enjoy most about practicing family law."

Caitlin also has experience in a range of property matters including leasing, conveyancing and development projects, as well as general commercial transactions.

Caitlin holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons), a Bachelor of Science and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

Caitlin has experience as a volunteer solicitor with Women’s Legal Service Queensland and LawRight Queensland, and sat on the Queensland Law Society Early Career Lawyers Committee before relocating to Melbourne in 2019. Caitlin now sits on the Junior Family Law Working Group of the Law Institute of Victoria. Caitlin is a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Family Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria and Victorian Women Lawyers.
