Brett Sherwin

Brett is a Senior Associate in our Insurance & Health team.

Brett’s practice focuses on advising his domestic insurers and self-insured clients in relation to a range of complex public liability claims.

‘I enjoy working with my clients to develop a range of strategic and novel ways to successfully resolve disputes.’

Brett also has in-house experience, having completed an extended secondment at a large Australian insurer, spending time working in two of the insurer’s teams dealing with:

• a range of public liability claims
• complex general insurance disputes, pertaining to commercial property claims, fraud, home and contents policies, and motor policies.

‘I am passionate about insurance law because it encompasses such a broad range of topics and skills. It requires technical skill over complex areas of law; practical skills such as advocacy and negotiation; and, overall, a lateral understanding of client needs.’

Brett has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce, with a major in Finance. He is a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association, Young Insurance Professionals and the Queensland Law Society. Brett was named a Rising Star by Australasian Lawyer in 2023.
