Alana is a Senior Associate in our Insurance & Health team based in the Sydney office.

Alana has extensive financial lines experience. She acts on behalf of our local and international clients providing coverage advice, and as defence counsel in litigated and non-litigated disputes. She specialises in complex matters that require a strategic approach and close management of stakeholder relationships.
Having spent a number of years working at two global insurers, Alana has a deep understanding of how to advance the interests of insurers and achieve timely commercial results. Prior to joining BN, Alana was the national claims manager for a global insurer and responsible for the management of complex and technically challenging claims, including class actions and industry wide events such as natural catastrophes (earthquakes and weather events) and royal commissions.
Alana’s experience extends to drafting insurance products, including policy wording, extensions and endorsements, as well as localising international products for the Australian and New Zealand markets. In addition, Alana provides advice on regulatory and legislative changes, and common law developments such as regulator culture and conduct reviews, and changes to the representative class action and litigation-funding framework.

Alana has a strong drive to give back to the community, having volunteered for a number of pro bono and community law organisations in Auckland and Sydney.
Alana holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Arts (Politics) from the University of Auckland. She is a member of the Risk Management Society, New Zealand & Pacific Islands Chapter.
