Finalists announced for the 2021 Next Gen Insurance Leader Award
Barry.Nilsson. and Young Insurance Professionals are thrilled to announce the finalists of the 2021 Next Gen Insurance Leader Award. Congratulations goes to Benjamin Briscoe (Allianz Australia), Matthew Bailey (Willis Towers Watson) and Paige Lowman (Aon).
Now in its third year, the YIPs Barry.Nilsson. Next Gen Insurance Leader Award recognises innovative thinking, leadership potential and business acumen, and encourages and supports the career development of young insurance professionals throughout Australia and New Zealand.
"We received a strong response to the Next Gen Award this year, and the calibre of entries was impressive, which made for a rigorous judging process," said Hubert Wajszel, Principal in Barry.Nilsson.’s Insurance & Health team and a judge in this year’s Next Gen Insurance Leader Awards.
The submission guidelines provided the opportunity to celebrate diversity of age and thought, and tackled some of the key issues that face our industry, including disruptors in the industry, globalisation, the increasing prevalence of litigation, talent development and the post-COVID work environment.
"With everything that's happened over the last 18 months, I was interested to see what resonated with this year's entrants, and I was pleased to see the submissions covered a range of topics, from industry disruptors to nurturing young talent,"
“In all of the submissions, it was promising to see just how much the next generation of insurance leaders are considering the future of the industry and what it may look like," said Mr Wajszel.
This year's finalists covered the following topics:
- Benjamin Briscoe - Proactivity vs. Reactivity: In times of such uncertainty, how can the insurance industry ensure it is proactive to external threats and opportunities?
- Matthew Bailey - Proactivity vs. Reactivity: In times of such uncertainty, how can the insurance industry ensure it is proactive to external threats and opportunities?
- Paige Lowman - Disruptors: What is the next disruptor for the insurance industry?
"The finalists' submissions really stood out for their innovative thinking, commercial application and the overall presentation and clarity of thought,"
"It’s evident that, when it comes to the next generation of insurance professionals, we’re in great hands - the award submissions we received make that abundantly clear." said Mr Wajszel.
This year's panel of esteemed judges included 2020 Next Gen Insurance Leader Award winner Simon Bogli (JLT Public Sector), Shaun Standfield (IAA), BN’s Hubert Wajszel and Simon Black, and YIPs committee members, Jacqueline Wilson and Justin Micale.
