Barry.Nilsson. consolidates Insurance & Health expertise with nine promotions in the New Year
Multi-award-winning national law firm Barry.Nilsson. is cementing its specialty Insurance & Health division with the announcement of nine staff promotions at the start of next year.
Widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading insurance law firms, Barry.Nilsson. boasts a raft of technical and individual accolades in the prestigious Doyle’s Guide and Best Lawyers including Top Listed Law Firm and Insurance Lawyer of the Year.
Earlier this year, Barry.Nilsson. was crowned Professional Services Firm of the Year in the 2019 ANZIIF Australian Insurance Industry Awards for the third time in four years, after being nominated as a finalist since 2012.
As of 1 January 2020, the firm will elevate nine practitioners in its Insurance & Health team to senior positions including two special counsel, one senior associate and six associates.
Barry.Nilsson. managing director Don Leembruggen said the end of year appointments reflected strength in the sector and growing demand from Insurance clients.

The two special counsel have been named as Andrew Ward (insurance & health, Brisbane) and Jack Geng (Insurance & Health, Sydney). Hannah Hughes (Insurance & Health, Hobart) has been promoted to senior associate.
The six associates are listed as Alex Donley (Insurance & Health, Sydney), Alex King (Insurance & Health, Brisbane), Andrew Clarke (Insurance & Health, Perth), Chanelle Blasis (Insurance & Health, Melbourne), Ingrid Martin (Insurance & Health, Brisbane) and Madelaine Swan (Insurance & Health, Sydney).
The firm now has more than 300 lawyers and legal staff including 31 principals in offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart.
