Barry.Nilsson. cements national growth with record intake of 25 promotions

As of July 1, national law firm Barry.Nilsson. will elevate 25 practitioners to senior positions, including 12 special counsel, seven senior associates and six associates.

Barry.Nilsson.’s managing director Don Leembruggen said the number was the highest ever announced by the firm and reflected the hard work and commitment from each solicitor across the firm's national insurance & health and family law teams.

“These individuals have continually demonstrated excellence in client service, technical and personal skills, teamwork and initiative, and together strengthen my view that Barry.Nilsson. has a very bright future ahead.”

“We appreciate their significant contributions to the firm and are delighted to be able to recognise and reward their efforts in this way.”

The promotions follow a period of expansion which has seen the 55-year-old Brisbane-based firm grow to more than 280 staff including 28 principals in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Hobart. The Perth office was the last to open in September 2017 but the growth plans have continued with the launch of its Sydney family law practice in April this year. Both practices have since doubled in size.

"We're not done yet - there is definitely room for future growth and I am very confident we have the right people in place to ensure our continued success," Mr Leembruggen added.

"As a firm we invest very heavily in our people and in the 34 years I've been here, we've had relatively little staff turnover. We're very careful with the people we hire and the people we promote.

"Our focus has always been on finding the right people who share our values and bolster our client-centric culture, and supporting them to grow with the firm as our future leaders."

The 12 special counsel have been named as Allison Caputo, Dan McCormack, Helen Li, Jen Kusiak, Jordan Farr, Kirstie Colls, Marie Dore, Megan Daniel, Sam Pillay, Steph Cook, Stewart Boland, and Will Stidston.

Meanwhile, the seven senior associates are listed as Amy Lucas, Emma Harman, Emma Pilkington, Lauren Rickersey, Liz Anderson, Elizabeth Mathews, and Melissa Carius.

The six associates have been named as Chris Evans, Erica Lawson, Hannah Hughes, Lucie Cooper-Hackman, Mariella Kapetina, and Mitchell Hauser.
