Barry.Nilsson. announces seven promotions for the New Year

As of 1 January 2019, national law firm Barry.Nilsson. has elevated seven female practitioners including two special counsel, two senior associates and three associates.

Barry.Nilsson. Managing Director Don Leembruggen said the new year appointments recognise excellence in client service across their specialty practice fields of insurance and health as well as family law.

He said he was pleased the seven promotions were all women and reflected the firm’s ongoing commitment to embrace diversity and equity.

“As a 55-year-old firm, we understand more than most the importance of challenging traditional work norms and the need to embrace diversity and equity in today’s modern world,” said Mr Leembruggen

“For some time now we have embraced flexible working arrangements to enable us to take advantage of the pool of enormously talented practitioners who might otherwise have been lost to the legal fraternity.

“These individuals have shown an exceptional work ethic, technical ability and teamwork, and they should be recognised for their outstanding contribution to Barry.Nilsson.”

In recent years Barry.Nilsson.’s legal team has received a raft of technical and individual accolades in the prestigious Doyle’s Guide and Best Lawyers including Top Listed Insurance Law Firm, First Tier Family & Divorce Law Firm, Leading Property & Real Estate Law Firm and Insurance Lawyer of the Year.

The firm has grown from a Brisbane-based firm to a national firm with more than 290 staff including 28 principals in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Hobart.

“If we are to continue to grow and prosper as a national firm, we need to create a professional environment that recognises and rewards hard work and ability,” said Mr Leembruggen.

“We have invested time and resources in creating an environment that makes our people happy to come to work and we are proud of our firm’s very low staff turnover.”

The two special counsel have been named as Anna Clarke (insurance and health, Brisbane) and Cindy Ting (insurance and health, Adelaide).

The two senior associates are listed as Georgia Hancy (insurance and health, Perth) and Sarah Hull (insurance and health, Brisbane).

Meanwhile the three associates have been named as Amelia Beveridge (family, Melbourne), Lauren Marx (insurance and health, Melbourne) and Reena Dandan (insurance and health, Melbourne).
