Barry.Nilsson. adds wills and estates services to its growing family arm

National law firm Barry.Nilsson. is boosting the range of family law services it is offering to its growing client base with the announcement of two new appointments.

Joanne Carusi and Emma Blay will head up the firm’s new wills and estate team, marking another major milestone in Barry.Nilsson.’s impressive growth trajectory.

Ms Carusi brings more than 20 years’ experience to the role, including knowledge of testamentary trust wills, speciality trusts including special disability trusts with a focussed approach to succession planning.

In addition, she has an extensive understanding in the areas of contested estates, elder law and guardianship legislation.

She will be supported by Ms Blay who brings five years’ experience to the role, including advising clients, defending estate claims and the drafting of high quality legal documentation.

Barry.Nilsson. Managing Director Don Leembruggen welcomed the pair to the Brisbane office, saying it was a natural progression for the firm to extend its family law arm.

He said the decision to implement a dedicated wills and estates team had been entirely driven by client demand from its family law divisions.

“We only see that demand growing,” said Mr Leembruggen.

“This is not diversification but rather a critical response to Barry.Nilsson. being able to provide this important service to existing and future clients."

“The experience that Joanne and Emma bring in wills and estates will dovetail nicely with our firm’s already strong family law offering, and can only enhance our client service.”

Currently Barry.Nilsson. offers family law services in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. More family law practice areas are expected to open across the remaining offices over the coming years.

Barry.Nilsson. was recognised in the 2018 edition of Doyle’s Guide, with 11 individual listings and two firm listings across five family law categories, including as a First Tier Family & Divorce Law Firm in Queensland.

Barry.Nilsson.’s insurance and health team was recognised in the 2017 Doyle’s Guide, with 25 individual solicitor listings and 17 firm listings, including as a Leading Public & Product Liability Law Firm (Defendant) across five states. They were also nominated as a finalist for Professional Services Firm of the Year in the annual ANZIIF Australian Insurance Industry Awards, after previously taking out the top spot in 2016 and 2017.

The firm now has more than 290 lawyers and legal staff with offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
