Leading national law firm Barry.Nilsson. has further boosted its international family law reputation, proudly announcing today the appointment of Asian law specialist Angie Todd as a Special Counsel.

Qualified to practice in both Australia and Hong Kong, Ms Todd brings eight years’ international family law experience in the Chinese administrative region, and is a specialist in issues affecting Australian and Chinese families, and expatriates.

Returning to her hometown of Brisbane, Ms Todd brings to Barry.Nilsson. expertise in cross-border divorce, global asset tracing, and the international relocation and removal of children.  Angie is also a trained Collaborative Practitioner.

As the former vice chair of the Hong Kong Family Law Association, Ms Todd gained a strong understanding of Hong Kong and mainland China’s unique cultural and business practices, further strengthening Barry.Nilsson.’s international family law team.

Barry.Nilsson. Managing Partner Don Leembruggen said: “We’re now seeing more  family law matters stretching beyond our borders. Angie has had a distinguished legal career in Sydney and Hong Kong, where she was highly sought-after in resolving international family law matters. We believe she is a perfect fit for our culture of excellence, loyalty and trust. We’re delighted to welcome her back home.”

A QUT Law and Business graduate, Ms Todd has more than 14 years of legal experience, working in Hong Kong for international law firm Withers Worldwide, and Hampton, Winter and Glynn.

Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Ms Todd practiced family law in Sydney for five years, and worked in the tax division of top international accounting firm, KPMG.

Ms Todd has successfully represented high net worth individuals, senior international business and legal executives, airline captains, expatriate Australians living in Hong Kong, as well as Chinese and Hong Kong nationals residing in Australia.

Ms Todd added: “Divorces, relationship breakdowns and custody battles crossing jurisdictions are now becoming all too common, and increasingly complicated. That’s what attracted me to join a national first tier family and divorce firm. I look forward to adding my Asian and Chinese expertise to the firm’s international reach and know-how.”

Following the recent appointment of internationally recognised family lawyer and former London-based law firm partner, Terrence Trainor, Ms Todd has joined a team consistently named by Doyle’s Guide as a first tier family and divorce law firm in Brisbane, having taken out the top honour in each of the last three years.
