It’s fair to say that for any public service system to work, there are fundamental elements which are necessary. Foremost, is the need for clear common objectives, simplified functionality and efficiency, transparency of process, skilled professionals across all levels and public confidence in the services delivered and outcomes achieved. Reproduced with the kind permission of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, this article looks at a selection of recommendations made by the Australian Law Reform Commission in its 2019 report Family Law for the Future – An Inquiry into the Family Law System.
