Business Continuity – COVID-19
As the COVID-19 situation evolves and escalates, we take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to providing a safe working environment for our staff and guaranteeing business continuity for our clients. BN has a detailed Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan. We regularly review this plan and incorporate changes to systems, processes, staff, environmental and community factors. We conduct biannual testing using event simulation.
Our Business Continuity Plan responds to the coronavirus pandemic in the manner set out below.
Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth Offices Reopen
BN’s Brisbane office reopens from 13 July, joining our Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth offices which recently reopened in accordance with government directions on relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions in those states.
In these offices, BN has in place a comprehensive reoccupation plan, including a detailed NCCC compliant COVID Safety Plan, to ensure our return is managed in a way that maintains government and health guidelines and protects the health and safety of our people, clients and the community.
When in our offices, staff and visitors are directed to observe social distancing and increased hygiene practices, maximum limits apply to meeting rooms and other areas, and an extensive office cleaning schedule is in place. Staff continue to have access to flexible working arrangements where required. In line with current government health advice, staff and clients who are unwell or vulnerable are advised to remain isolated.
Working from Home
As a firm, we have transitioned to remote working arrangements across all our offices, in line with the push to slow the spread of the coronavirus by supporting social distancing. We believe this is an important step in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our people, our clients and the broader community.
We remain fully operational and you can reach us by phone and email as you normally would. A suite of mobile apps allow staff access to key applications and functions including mobile time recording, dictation, emails and document management systems, and protocols are in place to ensure confidentiality of client information.
Workplace Health & Safety
Barry.Nilsson.is committed to the health and safety of our people, regardless of work location. We have disseminated information to all staff regarding personal hygiene including best practice in infection control, the symptoms and epidemiology of coronavirus. We have made infection control materials readily available to all staff.
We have mandated notification to our People & Culture team and a period of 14 days self-isolation in circumstances where an individual is tested for coronavirus, diagnosed as having coronavirus or been in contact with someone who has been tested or diagnosed.
All staff have been provided with access to our Employee Assistance Program to help them through this difficult time.
BN is following the Australian Government’s advice prohibiting interstate and international travel at this time. We will continue to monitor this evolving situation in the coming days, weeks and months.
Meetings and Events
All internal and client meetings are being arranged by video or teleconference. Limited access to our offices for business critical meetings will still be available and we have ensured appropriate hygiene and cleaning measures are in place.
All educational and social client events in all offices have been cancelled for at least the next three months, unless alternative arrangements have been made directly with clients. We will continue to assess as the situation develops and this may be extended, if appropriate. We will continue to offer e-newsletters and our podcast. We also have the capacity to deliver webinars and other online learning.
Of paramount concern with a mobile workforce, and at all times, is the security of our clients’ data. BN operates Citrix XenApp virtual desktop technology, ensuring all staff can securely access business information from any location, on any device, via two-factor authentication. Access is secured through mobile device management software and layered with VPN protection ensuring our clients’ information is always secure.
We commit to continually monitoring the COVID-19 situation to ensure all appropriate measures are in place to protect our staff and ensure our business continuity.
