Who we are

The Right People for the Job

Our team at Barry.Nilsson. Lawyers, are dedicated experts in Airports Law. It is one of our core business areas and as a result, we are heavily focussed on making sure that our systems, our knowledge and our skill set are first class. This also keeps our clients confident that their Airports are in order and operating under best practice methods.

Clive

Clive is a partner in our Property & Commercial team and is often described as a ‘no frills and tinsel lawyer’. His ‘straight to the point’ approach for transactions has delivered him a long list of loyal clients in the Airport industry.

Clive has acted for Gold Coast Airport since 1998. During that time he has been involved in 3 full and/or partial terminal redevelopments, a full cycle of general aviation leasing, and the implementation of post 9/11 landside, sterile area, and airside security measures as part of commercial arrangements with on and off airport operators and stakeholders.

The trust and reliance placed on Clive by his clients can be evidenced by him subsequently being asked to undertake similar work for other airports operated by QAL, together with Rockhampton, Whitsunday Coast, Sunshine Coast and Caloundra Airports.

Shanna

Shanna’s experience in the airport industry spans more than 6 years. Prior to joining the firm Shanna worked in the property management industry. This gives her a superior understanding of the day to day issues facing clients' businesses and allows her to offer proactive and practical advice and assistance to clients.

Shanna has been involved in a number of terminal redevelopments including one which was valued at approximately $100million. She was vital in the preparation of plain English documents that locked in the tenants but allowed for changes to the timing and nature of works as they occurred during the redevelopment. She worked closely with the client’s commercial manager to negotiate ‘deal specific’ issues such as use, trading hours, and rights of termination.
