Our Insurance & Health team acts for more than half of the top 10 Australian general insurers as well as a range of specialist insurers, brokers and underwriters.

Many of those for whom we act underwrite personal accident insurance. As part of our workload, we are frequently asked to advise on personal accident insurance matters including:

• Policy interpretation
• Drafting of policy wordings;
• Advice as to policy coverage, including:
  • If the policy responds and to what extend;
  • Obtaining expert medical opinion as to whether the injury falls within coverage;
  • Whether the insured person suffers from a total and permanent disablement;
  • If the matter was an accident and whether any exclusions apply; and
  • Whether the insured has provided full disclosure as required under the terms of the policy.
•  Negotiating with the insureds to resolve claims.
