Strategic edge. Connected advantage.

Our green commitment

At Barry.Nilsson. we recognise the impact that our day-to-day lives has on the environment. We work together as a team to deliver solutions to overcome this impact.

Together, everyday we aim to:
  • Recycle and minimise waste wherever practicable
  • Include environmental considerations when sourcing office equipment and general appliances
  • Source office supplies produced from sustainable resources or recycled materials wherever practicable
  • Monitor our energy use through internal and external audits and report regularly to all staff
  • Promote environmental responsibility as part of our culture
At Barry.Nilsson. we're active about reducing our carbon footprint and as a result, a Green Committee was established to review our current policies and behaviours. Since inception, the Green Committee has undertaken a number of initiatives and made changes to the way we operate at Barry.Nilsson.

A recent initiative was to 'Adopt a Square' through the Australian Rainforest Foundation. In September 2009 an online survey was conducted to gauge feedback from our Annual Insurance Law Review. Each survey response contributed to purchasing one square metre of endangered rainforest at Cape Tribulation which is vital to conservation in the area. Barry.Nilsson. is the proud owner of 200 square metres of rainforest. This same survey will be conducted again in 2010 with reponses once again contributing to the ownership of an important area of rainforest.

The Green Committee has also undertaken a NABERS self-assessment of our office space. The Committee will undertake these assessments periodically with a view to continually improving our environmental impact. Another initiative which Barry.Nilsson. supports is the CitySwitch program. As a member of CitySwitch Barry.Nilsson. is part of a growing number of office tenants and local governments committed to improving energy efficiency in offices.

At Barry.Nilsson. team members at all levels are responsible for monitoring their environmental impact. Staff are encouraged to use public transport to and from work and shower facilities are available to encourage walking or riding to work.
